A producer since 1851 in the centre of the Australian wine industry, the name Seppelt is synonymous with fortified winemaking. Using the best climates and growing conditions that Australia's wine producing regions have to offer, Seppelt has established vineyards and wineries all over the country to ensure that the country's best resources are used to their full potential. The warm and dry summer climate of the Barossa Valley, for example, is ideal for the ripening of fruit suited for fortified winemaking, and in particular sherry, while the combination of hot summer days, cool nights and long, dry autumns in Rutherglen are ideal for producing the incredibly ripe fruit perfect for Liqueur Muscat and Tokay. The Seppelt's 1986 Tawny Port which was made as a special bottling to commemorate the stores 20th anniversary. This is a lucious and incredibly intense wine, showing the nuances and development that Ports can only get at 20 years of age. Great as an aperitif before supper, and can be followed-up to with a glass or two after supper.
