This Tempranillo has an intense cherry red color with bluish hints that define its youth. Its aroma is very fruity, with blackberries, red currants and cherries, as well as a kiss of black liquorice. The strong aromas follow through to the palate, which is well-rounded with good structure and lingering fruit that continues through the long finish.
The grapes come from 30 to 70 year old vines planted in the La Mancha region in Central Spain. The soils are clay; ideal for growing grapes. The climate is continental, with cold winters and hot summers. During the summer, there is great contrast between the day and night temperatures, which help the grapes reach optimum ripeness. The grapes are hand-picked and sorted. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 8 days with daily pump-over in order to achieve the best color, aroma and tannin extraction. Malolactic fermentation takes place in the stainless steel and is followed by light fining and filtration just prior to bottling, in an effort to preserve as much of the wines fine fruit aromas as possible.
