The cherry fruit and supple texture of Zweigelt is united with the delicate strawberry and elegance of Pinot Noir. The sandy, chalk of the Bisamberg promotes finesse and complexity in this Viennese blend. Dark ruby red; berry fruit on the nose: blackberry, some raspberry and full cherry fruit. Soft tannins on the palate, compact body with some hints of strawberry, juicy and spicy finish.
"Roman Pfaffl is without any doubt number 1 of the region" writes the magazine A la Carte. The Austrian wine-maker gives a lot of attention to the selection of his vineyards, terroir and the proper grape varieties. Together with his wife and his 3 children he is cultivating 80 hectares of vineyards in the southern part of the wine-region Weinviertel and in Vienna. The magazine Wine-Enthusiast describes his wines as follows: "Roman Pfaffl was voted winemaker of the year in 1996 by the Austrian wine press, and a taste of his wines reveals why. Here are wines with power as well as juicy, fruity flavors. Ripeness and alcohol harmonize easily in these wines. They may be weighty, but they also have a refreshing streak of acidity. They are certainly world-class wines."
