Vineyard: 13 rows planted in 1989 on granite bedrock. 100% Naramata Village.
Wine Making: Hand-picked on October 22nd 2014. De-stemmed in to open top fermenters. Basket pressed with malolactic taking place in neutral French barrique. Raised in neutral (3-6 years old) French oak barrels for 12 months. Racked twice and bottled unfined and unfiltered in March 2016.
Tasting Note: Dark ruby. Youthful, vibrant. Garrigue, dark red fruits, soil and dill on the nose. Crunchy, packed palate of sage, iron and savoury berries. The tannins are round and ripe in 2014 making the wine rather accessible at an early stage. This is ripe Cabernet Franc that never forgets it is still varietal Cabernet Franc. Now – 2024+.
