Neal Family 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

The 2012 growing season was well received by most growers in Napa Valley. Summer temperatures were warm but not too hot, with cool nights both on the valley floor as well as our mountain estate. There was the typical valley morning fog, but most days were sunny with moderate temperatures and no major heat waves or wet weather. Almost perfect late summer and early fall conditions created a fairly long harvest. It allowed fruit maturity to develop slowly, resulting in balanced chemistry and lovely flavors.

This vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon shows intense aromas of blackberry and red cherry fruit, spice and baked sugar tempered by a subtle amount of new French oak. Being 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from small berry vineyards, it is very dark in color and has a moderately high amount of velvety tannins, creating a firm, complex mouthful of flavors. The cherry and berry fruit flavors mimic the aromas and create a sense of sweetness, although there is no residual sugar. The youthful tannin along with nutmeg and other baking spices linger in a long, pleasant finish. Great for cellaring or drinking after a short decant.
