Manenti 2016 Frappato IGT 750ml

This is an organically-farmed wine made by the husband and wife team of Marita and Guglielmo Manenti. They tend their own 4 hectares of vineyards in the province of Ragusa, a region once decimated by the Phylloxera outbreak. Only within the past two decades have vineyards been re-planted. The results for the Manentis have been superb. They've had great success cultivating Frappato and Nero d'Avola, two indigenous varieties that feel at home in the local environment: calcareous-clayey, iron-rich soils, hot and arid Mediterranean microclimate -- fog-free and with strong temperature variations between day and night. This 100% Frappato varietal makes barely 2,000 bottles out of the total yield of about 10,000 bottles. Fresh, vibrant, with delicate floral notes, the nose is pre-occupied by black cherry and spice. Balanced acidity, slightly tangy, with soft tannins. The local custom is to serve with tuna.
