(14% alcohol): Good ruby-red. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, licorice, bitter chocolate and loam convey the polite side of Syrah. Offers more energy and definition on the palate than the nose suggests, with good spicy lift contributing to the impression of intensity. Not a fat wine but the firm, dusty tannins are ripe and broad for the vintage. Finishes with noteworthy persistence
