Leonetti 2014 Reserve 750ml

Winemaker's Note: The nose on this wine turns up the volume to 11 (Spinal Tap style). Divinely complex with notes of sweet fresh and dried flowers, balsam, crème brûlée, and vanilla. Pure ripe fruit without being cloying. Background notes of a freshly cut White Fir awaiting Christmas lights. Delicious, incredible length, with a string of perfect acidity coursing throughout and supporting the intense fruit with levity and freshness. Qualitatively, I think this wine is on par with the 2010 but is showing well earlier in its lifespan, offering more immediate drinking pleasure. Remarkably, a small portion of Cabernet from our new Serra Pedace Vineyard contributes to the blend. This is a rarity, in which fruit this young would qualify for the Reserve blend, and bodes incredibly well for the future of this vineyard.

Critical Acclaim:

The 2012 Reserve is another gorgeous Bordeaux blend by Chris. Made from 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and equal parts Malbec and Petit Verdot, it offers up plenty of cassis, licorice and chocolate in its sexy, seamless and incredibly polished profile. Concentrated, with plenty of tannin, it will round into form with a few years in the cellar and, like the straight Cabernet, have two decades or more of longevity. A swarm of fine tannins swirls around a sleek core of peppery black cherry and plum flavors. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Best from 2017 through 2024. Score: 94 points -- Wine Spectator
