Julien Pilon 2018 Condrieu "Lone" 750ml

Translucent, green-tinged yellow. Nectarine, Meyer lemon, succulent flowers and a mineral flourish on the expressive nose. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering subtly sweet, finely defined citrus and pit fruit flavors that open up steadily on the back half. Shows excellent clarity and floral lift on the penetrating finish, which lingers with strong, mineral persistence.

A magnificent and stunning display of what Condrieu should be. Those hidden mineral notes with rose petal and orange blossom are in perfect balance. I believe the hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I tasted this wine.

Julien Pilon specializes in white wine – it makes up 80% of his production – but has expanded his production to include several high quality reds. His whites are precise, exciting and stylish; the best of them will age gracefully for a long time, especially the spectacular Hermitage Blanc. Before branching out on his own, Pilon worked with Pierre Jean Villa in the Rhone, and before that in Roussillon and in Spain.
