A haunting nose of apricot, apple blossom, mint and lemon peel sets the stage for a polished, multifaceted palate performance. Crushed stone and black pepper add to the invigoration of piquant lemon and orange peel in a finish that preserves refreshing primary juiciness, a virtue notoriously hard to capture in Muskateller. Herwig Altmann says it cost five times the man-hours to achieve these results as it had to render the corresponding 2014. It was certainly worth the effort qualitatively speaking, if not to the bottom line! (I explained the “Vierblattl” nickname in my note on that 2014.)
