Currently the fourth largest estate in Montalcino, Il Poggione is perhaps best known for their Brunellos and reasonably-priced, age-worthy wines. This is a younger, fruity wine made from Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. On the nose, aromas of red fruit, sweet spice, and vanilla. More of the same on the soft palate with balanced acidity and good length. Pair with white meat, pasta, medium cheese, and of course pizza.
