"The 2008 Avaton is a blend of Limnio (which the winery says is the oldest referenced Greek grape, as mentioned by Aristotle), Mavroudi and Mavrotragano, which makes it a pretty obscure wine even by Greek standards. Whether due to the blend or not, it is a bit funky, with a certain sauvage element to it. The mid-palate is on the thinner side, not terribly concentrated, and the tannins are moderately ripe. The nice acidity and the refined demeanor give it a graceful and lively feel belied by its funky start. I imagine this will draw diverse viewpoints, but it does have something nice to offer and it grew on me steadily with air. The funk blew off a bit, too. Drink now-2018. 89 points"
