Foreign Affair 2016 Conspiracy 750ml
Named in honour of early friends and supporters who helped harvest and sort grapes from our first vintage and came to be known as the ‘Conspiracy Council’. This wine has aromas of ripe black cherry, blackberries, blueberry, blackcurrants with subtle smoke, oak and spice notes. The palate has bold flavours of dark fruit which echo the aromas. Nice acidity is balanced by a smooth tannin. Serve with grilled red meats, roasts, stews, BBQ ribs or burgers, grilled portabello mushroom, charcuterie boards and aged cheeses, chocolate, or by itself.
The 2016 vintage was hot and sunny, the vines produced fruit with very ripe flavours and lower acidity – a great Niagara vintage! A Ripasso style wine of Bordeaux grape varieties. The grapes were harvested, fermented, and aged separately before final blending. A portion of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot wines are then selected to be repassed over the skins and lees of our appassimento red grapes giving the wine added depth and flavour. This wine was aged in French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels for 9 months. Drinking beautifully now, this wine will continue to age well in your cellar through to the year 2026.
