A striking nose of pepper-dusted blueberries leads the way in the 2017 Ventoux Persia, a blend of 90% to 95% Syrah, with the balance Mourvèdre. Full-bodied, ripe, rich and creamy in texture, this is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) examples of this cuvée I've ever tasted, with masses of fruit that should drink well for another 5-8 years after release.

One of the consistently superb estates in the Cotes du Ventoux, Domaine de Fondreche offers very high quality and reasonable prices. The creation of Sebastian Vincenti and Manou Barthelemy, these wines are bursting with fruit and have loads of minerality and aromatics. They are beautiful efforts representing the best of what a young generation of French producers can do. The estate is just under 100 acres in size and is now 100% biodynamically farmed.
