91 POINTS. ALPHA ESTATE RED 2007 eRobertParker.com # 186 December 2009. Reviewed by MARK SQUIRES The 2007 ALPHA ESTATE, a blend of international grapes and Xinomavro, may be the best wine yet from this estate. There is a touch of oak on opening, but then it evolves into something richer and oakier, with intensity and focus on the finish, and increasing harmony. I loved its depth and concentration, which it maintains without sacrificing its elegance. Drink 2011-2022.
Tasting Characteristics: Deep ruby color with purple hints. Powerful, pungent aromas of sweet cherry, candied plum and toasty vanillin oak. Full bodied and deep in dark fruit flavors, with a peppery and strong oak spicy accents background. The solid tannins build through the finish but there is plenty of supporting depth of fruit here, not to mention a bright acid lift on the back that adds energy. A ‘’Vin de Garde’’ with a great future.
