[2018 vintage] Having the word "barrica" in the name of the 2018 Komokabras Barrica might give you the wrong idea that this Albariño is going to be an oaky white, which it is not. In fact, I'd say it's the most expressive and varietally nuanced of the Komokabras range. It fermented and matured in used 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels, where the wine was for a period of around nine to 10 months, kept with lees. It didn't go through malolactic fermentation, and the wine is sharp and direct, vibrant and mineral, without oak flavors or aromas. It's really tasty, with a salty twist in the finish.
