Coolshanagh 2016/18 Chardonnay 750ml
Critical Acclaim:
Their Chardonnay is a classic example of what the Okanagan can achieve with meticulous attention to farming with a view to crafting authentic terroir inspired wines. Grapes are grown exclusively on their Naramata Bench vineyard site, a place that has been declared “rare” and “exceptional” by famed Chilean terroir expert Pedro Parra. The current release is from the 2013 vintage and has garnered spectacular reviews from several wine journalists.
"One of the best Chardonnays in the Okanagan"
-Anthony Gismondi
Winemakers Notes:
Coolshanagh Vineyard sits 7km north of Naramata, between what was the ancient west coast of North America and Okanagan Mountain. Distinct regional flavours emerge from this fertile calcium carbonate-loaded soilmade up of fractured glacial bedrock.
Made by Michael Bartier at Okanagan Crush Pad, 32% of this wine was fermented in new neutral French oak; the balance in stainless steel, before being blended and aged on the lees in an egg-shaped concrete tank. Bottled in August 2013, the finished wine offers a distinctive combination of bright, nimble acidity and solid weightiness. 230 cases of the Chardonnay comprise its inaugural release.
