On what was once a farm, the Girard family built an estate house in 1830 and began producing white wine in what is now AOC Entre-Deux-Mers. By the 1950s, this style of white wine was waning in popularity and in the 1970s, Daniel and Jean-Claude Aubert began replacing the white plantings with red grape vines. This wine is comprised of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. On the nose, aromas of cedar, currant, and wet soil. Bright acidity on the palate, with fleshy tannins. This is a well-rounded, well-produced value Bordeaux, perfect with grilled meat, chorizo, and roasted eggplant-based dishes. Give this one a longer decant.
