Description
A spectactular blend from multiple vintages, sourced from an impressive blend of Grands and Premiers crus, this Champagne is 52% Chardonnay, 24% Pinot Noir and 24% Pinot Meunier. There are wild aromas of ripe apple, honey, blossom, lime, malt, celery, coffee, chestnuts, paprika, herbs and hazelnuts. The palate is very unique, slightly oxidized, and bone dry, while remaining immensely complex with a supremely long finish. This is one for the wine nerds; while it may not appeal to those looking for a boring Champagne, the more curious among you may be enthralled.
Critical Acclaim:
Distinctive and vinous. A dry, bracing style of Champagne, featuring beeswax, malt, honey and lemon aromas and flavors riding the bracing structure. It's almost severe, yet with enough depth and concentration to follow through on the long finish. Drink now through 2022. 25 cases imported. Score: 92 points -- Wine Spectator, Dec 2008
