The Bodegas Martínez Corta family estate includes 225 acres /91 hectares of old-vine Tempranillo in the heart of Rioja Alta. Viticulturalists have been producing quality wines here for generations and Martínez Corta been an important wine estate since the 1960s. Made from Rioja’s noble tempranillo variety which is both a complex and velvet textured variety. Fruit comes from old vines (minimum age of 40 years) and it is made with little or no oak aging, keeping wines fruity and meant to be enjoyed in their youth. The Cepas Antiguas is light with drying tannins. On the palate notes of dried violet, black cherry, and redcurrant dominate with undertones of spice. This wine favours salty and fatty cheeses and also light meat dishes (think stews).
