Cantina Terre del Barolo 2019 Verduno Pelaverga 750ml

The unique aromas this clear ruby-red wine shows on the nose range from pepper and lavender to other spices in a bouquet that is exciting to say the least. An exuberant wine packed with body and freshness on the mouth,with restrained tannins and flavour. With naturally light body,thin skins and high acid Pelaverga goes with just about any food,though the locals swear by matching it to anything with mushrooms.

The small number of bottles of Pelaverga di Verduno released by a very limited number of producers makes this “rare” delicacy a truly exclusive product. The main wine produced is of course the region’s star, Barolo. They also make the region’s other famous grapes: Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera. And yet what was most delightfully surprising was a grape none of us had heard of, native to the region and in minuscule production: PELAVERGA.
