The Calliope brand belongs to the Wyse family, better known for Okanagan's excellent Burrowing Owl Estate. The emphasis is on wines designed to be consumed young and with modern, vibrantly flavoured foods. Here's a good example, an aromatic blend of sauvignon blanc, viognier, pinot gris and riesling that delivers a contemporary hint of easy-drinking sweetness. It's silky and simultaneously tangy, with notes of citrus, honey and peach. Nice as an aperitif on its own or with light curries or spicy, marinated seafood.
