The Cashburn Pinot Noir is more immediate and approachable than its bigger sibling, offering a brighter, lighter spectrum of cherry and strawberry fruits, backed by plenty of earthy, mushroomy savoury notes as well. The result is a wine that's unmistakably 'Burn Cottage', and consequently, irresistibly Central Otago at its most Pinot-y.
Particularly evident with this 2012 release is that its definitely not lacking in intensity and is all about finesse and drinkability, with silky tannins, oak barely visible - if at all. Theres a depth of power and concentration to this, but absolutely and only in a most feminine way reminiscent of a charming young, pure and pristine Burgundy. This is a very serious Pinot in its own right.
