Farmed in a prestigious small vineyard along the new Golden Mile Bench appellation, the aptly named “Oak Street” Vineyard houses one of the best microclimates and terroirs for Chardonnay. Being on the Western Slope, this site gets lots of early day sun which also protects the fruit from the high heat typical of the greater area. Doing so allows for a longer and more careful growing season and is instrumental for optimal ripeness and retention of acidity.
Planted to a range of clones best suited for its site, clones 53, 76 and 96 contribute complexity and harmony into its resulting wine. This piece of land that is predominantly rocky, old alluvial river bed on top of interspersed clay. Varietal correctness shines through in land like this.
Destemmed and hand-sorted at the winery, this wine was aged in new French puncheons for 14 months. High toned aromas of honeysuckle, orange spice and a subtle hint of vanilla, this leads into our most mineral driven Chardonnay with a strong core of classic stone fruits and echos of fresh tropical fruits nudging in on the edges. Precise acidity is framed by integrated oak highlights.
