The 2011 3 Viñas Reserva is an old-style white that matured in oak with a deep golden color; it has an oaky nose that needs time in bottle to absorb the oak and develop complexity and further nuances. The fruit is good and the blend and ageing cannot be more textbook Rioja: 70% Viura, 15% Malvasía Riojana and 15% Garnacha Blanca, fermented separately and aged for one year in new American oak barrels. It has tasty flavors and a salty finish, even if now it's greatly affected by the élevage. It's a white than can easily take white meat dishes. I'll wait for this. For fans of traditional okay whites from Rioja.
