Anciano 2014 Tempranillo 5 Year 750ml

Anciano wines are made in the timeless Spanish tradition. This 100% Tempranillo wine from the Valdepenas DO is aged in the cellars of Bodegas Navalon. The grapes come from 30+ year old vines and the wines were aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for about 1 year with the remaining time in bottle. The aromas and flavors are very dense with a punch of rich compote fruit, vanilla, coconut, and licorice. The extended ageing has softened the tannins. The finish is pleasant and long. This is an ideal match with a range of foods including stews, red meat and mature cheese.
