Alvear 2017 Marques de la Sierra Dry White 750ml
This is a vino joven wine made from 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes and has an ABV of 12%.The grapes are from Alvear's own vineyards, selected from the “Casilla del Hospital” plot, in the Sierra de Montilla. Due to the fermentation process at low temperature and after a light maceration with the skins, this gives complexity in the mouth and adds to the aromatic notes of the variety.
Nose: Sour dough, green apple skin, peach stones with a hint of saline and some lime zest.
Palate: Lime cordial, mango and papaya to start. Drying on the palate with a hint of lavender. A very interesting example of a vino joven from Montilla-Moriles and another well worth seeking out, especially due to the way it is produced with its low temperature fermentation and light skin maceration.
