The 2014 Estate S.M.X. is a blend of 60% Syrah, 20% Merlot and 20% Xinomavro, aged for 18 months in new French oak. It comes in at 13.9% alcohol. This is nicely done in a year that wasn't always easy. Showing some earthiness, freshness and bite on the finish, this has mid-palate finesse as well. That finish is laced with some blueberries, earth and a tinge of oak. There is also just a bit of tartness in the background that gives this some energy. Overall, this is a perfect food wine.
