| Red Wines: |
| Domaine la Barroche 2008 CDP Signature - $49.90 “Deep ruby. Darker, more pungent fruits on the nose than the Terroir, displaying notes of licorice and black cardamom. Chewy and tightly wound, offering bitter cherry and blackberry flavors and a sexy note of candied lavender. Brighter red fruits emerge with air and carry through a persistent, spicy finish. All of the old vines Grenache that is usually destined to be bottled as Pure was included in this bottling. 90 points” - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 11 Buy |
| Pyramid Valley Vineyards 2007 Howell Family Cab Franc "High toned, and expressive, exuding aromas of raspberry, pencil lead, clove and fresh spice. Lovely. The palette is medium bodied and dense, but very precise. It's expansive, but not over-done. It has the power, but it has a load of finesse . With flavours of ripe, fresh raspberry, menthol and spice melange framed by just the right amount of tannin and acid, all that comes together to provide a very interesting, intellectual, and highly enjoyable wine." - Andrew Melville, Marquis Wine Cellars "This has a wonderful nose: black cherries, plum and a touch of cooked meats – well defined with no peppery elements normally associated with Cabernet Franc. The palate is ripe, almost over-ripe with sweet black plum, macerated cherries and a honeyish note towards the svelte, weighty finish. 90 points" | |
| Soter 2010 Mineral Springs Pinot Noir - $57.90 "Rose petal and geranium fascinatingly mingle with scents of cherry and almond in the nose of Soter’s 2010 Pinot Noir Mineral Springs Ranch; then inform a silken-textured, infectiously-juicy palate, rich in ripe cherry and piquant nut oils yet buoyant and positively billowing in its expression of inner-mouth florality, leading to a long, mouthwateringly savory, disarmingly persistent and next sip-inducing finish in which floral and spice accents alluringly keep pace with the generous flow of fruit. Look for at least a dozen years of delight from this polished beauty, which will almost certainly gain in complex allure and fascination. 93 points" - David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate #202 Buy | |
| Rijk's 2007 Pinotage Reserve - $49.90 "The 2007 Private Cellar Reserve Pinotage is a special winery selection of ten barrels in the winery that are matured for 20 months in 60% new oak. It has a ripe rounded plum, banana skin and violet-tinged bouquet with good definition. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, great purity and femininity with a caressing finish of black cherries and dark plum. This is a very good example of South African Pinotage. Drink now-2015. | |
| Turley 2010 Duarte Vineyard Zinfandel - $54.90 "15.7% alcohol. Good deep ruby. Musky black cherry, bitter chocolate and licorice on the nose, along with a tarry nuance. Fat, broad and sweet, with pliant, creamy black cherry and dark chocolate flavors complicated by a whiff of stone fruits. A bit less explosive today than the higher-toned Salvador, and just a tad roasted on the back end. 90 points" - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May 12 Buy |
2008 Abel Mendoza Seleccion Personal - $52.90 |
Paul Hobbs 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Cross Barn - $50.00 "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Crossbarn is a gorgeous, fruit-driven wine bursting with dark red fruit, new leather, spices and licorice. Expressive aromatics are woven throughout in this beautifully delineated, entry-level Cabernet. The final blend includes 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Hobbs uses a touch of American oak for this Crossbarn label. The main vineyards are State Lane and Mast, both in Yountville. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. 91 points" | |
| Miguel Merino 2005 Reserva - $54.90 "(100% tempranillo): Bright violet color. Sexy black raspberry, potpourri and incense aromas expand with air and pick up a vanilla nuance. At once dense and lively, offering sweet red and dark berry compote flavors with hints of mocha and spicecake. Vanilla and floral notes carry through the very long, sappy, gently tannic finish. 92 points" - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep 12 | |
Woodward Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon - $59.90 |
| Tor Kenward 2008 Hommage Allan - $49.90 "Tor is a huge fan of Rhone wines and has had impressive success producing a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. The 2008 Homage Alan from the Judge Vineyard in Bennett Valley exhibits peppery, meaty characteristics intermixed with lavender, Provencal herbs, sweet kirsch and black currants. This medium to full-bodied red should be consumed over the next 3-4 years. 90 points" - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #192 Buy |
| Domaine Ghislaine Barthod 2008 Chambolle Musigny - 64.90 "A more elegant and ever-so-slightly riper nose also displays very high-toned red pinot fruit that is in keeping with the lacy, textured, detailed and minerally middle weight flavors that are racy, linear and precise on the firm and persistent finish. This is not overly complex, at least not yet though this may come with a few years in bottle. 86-89 points" - Allen Meadows, The Burghound Issue 37 Buy |
| Caymus 2009 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon - $69.00 "Supple and creamy-textured, with mocha, ripe plum and cherry flavors that show touches of tobacco, espresso and underbrush. Full-bodied, gaining tannic traction on the finish, elegant and readily approachable. Drink now through 2018. 91 points" - The Wine Spectator Buy |
| Glaetzer 2010 Anaperenna Shiraz-Cabernet - $79.90
A Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon blend, the 2010 Anaperenna has a deep purple-black color and aromas of warm black cherry compote and creme de cassis over hints of smoked meat, earth, Indian spices, truffles and damp loam. Rich and opulent on the full bodied palate, the generous fruit is well supported by a medium to firm level of fine tannins and refreshing acid, finishing long and earthy. Still youthful and a little taut, it should drink best 2014 to 2022+. 93+ points" |
| Château Kirwan 2008 Margaux - $84.90 "Made in the tell-tale Kirwan style (medium to full-bodied, lots of muscle, concentration, and thickness), the dense purple-colored 2008 offers sweet blackberry and cassis fruit along with a layered mouthfeel. A sleeper of the vintage, this 2008 remains backward and thus will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring. It has the potential to keep for two decades. 90 points" - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #194 Buy |

| Buty 2009 Conner Lee Vineyard Chardonnay - $49.90 "Located on Radar Hill south of Othello, Washington, Conner Lee Vineyard is a cool site in a sunny region. Nearly a desert, the nights cool down substantially, the growing season is shorter, and the day heat ripens the clusters consistently. Planted 100% ungrafted vinifera in 1989, the vines reach into sandy soils, which provide excellent drainage." |

Rotie Cellars 2008 Southern White - $49.90 "The 2008 Rôtie Cellars Southern White is a blend of 50% Viognier and 50% Roussanne that was 100% Tank Fermented. The wine has ripe, upfront and boisterous aromatics of tropical fruits, ripe peaches, baking spices, black licorice and white flowers. These lead into a full bodied, round, ripe palate that has tons of fruit, decent acidity, a slightly oily texture and a long, lingering finish. Drink this full flavored white over the next 2 to 3 years. 88 points" - The Rhone Report #8 |
| Crowley Vineyards 2010 'Four Winds' Chardonnay
- $53.90
"The Crowley 2010 Chardonnay Four Winds - from an 850 feet elevation site in the foothills of the Coastal Range directly west of McMinnville and planted with old Wente Selection - is buoyant, if also lean. Its tart, juicy lemon and apple fruit is somewhat at odds with caramelized and resinous notes from barrel (even though none of the wood here was new). Crowley thinks it will fill-in and gain harmony with a bit of time in bottle. I won't try to guess how it might evolve. At any rate, it is certainly long and encouragingly juicy and vibrant, if far from complex. 87 points" |
Woodward 2009 Columbia Chardonnay - $49.90 |
Grosset 2011 Polish Hill Riesling - $49.90 |
| Domaine Albert Mann 2010 Riesling Rosenberg - $52.90 From one of Alsace's premier producer, this wine is truly one of the finest Rieslings in all the world. It's dry, full bodied and packed with crazy amounts of flavour. |
| Bodegas Lopez de Heredia 1993 Vina Tondonia Blanco Gran Reserva - $59.90 "90% Viura and 10% Malvasía and aged for 6 years in barrel. Natural gold, developed. Fresh, complex and developed. Smooth, round, fine and developed. Perfect with all kinds of fish, irrespective of their preparation; grilled seafood, well-seasoned white meat." - Winemaker's Notes Buy |
| Cameron 2009 Abbey Ridge Chardonnay - $64.90 "The 2009 Chardonnay Abbey Ridge was sourced from 35 year old vines, aged sur lie, and bottled without filtration. Light gold in color, it offers up an enticing nose of pear, melon, and hazel nuts. In the glass it opens to reveal a vibrant acid structure, ripe flavors, and excellent length. It will provide enjoyment for another 4-5 years at the very least. 91 points" - Jay Miller, The Wine Advocate #197 Buy |
| Tor Kenward 2010 Torchiana Vineyard Chardonnay - $72.90 "(from a Hyde clone; from 25-year-old vines whose tiny clusters yielded less than a ton an acre in 2010, according to Tor Kenward): Good bright yellow. Aromas of orchard fruits, lemon curd, minerals and smoky lees. Offers lovely fruit intensity in a cool style: lemon zest, fresh peach, minerals and menthol. Nothing tropical about this California chardonnay. High-pitched, broad and quite dry, with a palate-dusting, extract-rich finish. 94 points" - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May 12 Buy |

| Bernard Bremont Brut N/V Grand Cru - $54.90 “80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. Light, bright yellow. Intensely spicy nose displays bright citrus, pear and mineral scents. I'd never have guessed that this was a pinot-dominant blend from Ambonnay. Clean, finely etched lemon, orchard fruit and peppery spice flavors stain the palate and are gently buffered by sweet butter and candied rose. Finishes precis and brisk and long. 91 points" - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Nov 08 |
| Champagne Jacques Picard Brut Selection - $49.90 “The NV Brut Selection is a beautifully focused, taut wine laced with flowers, green apples and white peaches. This bracing, entry-level Champagne shows terrific vibrancy and bracing acidity on the long, clean finish. The Selection is 60% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Meunier, and 5% Pinot Noir. Not surprisingly, it is the Chardonnay that speaks with greatest eloquence. This version is based on 2007, with the addition of 40% reserve wines from 2006, 2005 and 2004. 91 points” - The Wine Advocate #192 |
| Veuve Clicquot Brut N/V - $69.99 "Bright yellow-gold. Poached pear and candied citrus fruits on the nose, which shows notes of spun sugar and toffee. Sweet orchard and pit fruit flavors are slightly cloying and loose-knit, with slow-mounting spiciness. Finishes on a warm note, with decent length and a suggestion of candied orange. 87 points" Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Dec 11 Buy |
| Champagne Paul Bara 2002 Special Club Champagne - $89.90 "(mostly pinot noir and all Bouzy fruit): Vivid yellow. Deeply pitched aromas of poached pear, cherry pit, toasty lees and dried flowers. Broad, fleshy and pungent in the mouth, offering pliant orchard and pit fruit flavors that are braced by dusty minerals. A rich but energetic Champagne that shows impressive clarity and power on the very long, sappy and focused finish. 93 points" - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Dec 11 Buy |
| Soter 2006 Brut Rose - $79.90 "Tony Soter has long made one of the finest Rose sparkling wines anywhere. The salmon pink 2006 Brut Rose, a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, was barrel-fermented and spent 4.5 years aging sur-lie. It gives up enticing aromas of cherry blossom, raspberry, and strawberry leading to an intensely flavored, lengthy, rich wine that will pair perfectly with the finest jamons ibericos. 93 points" Jay Miller, The Wine Advocate #197 Buy |
| Domaine Jo Pithon 03 Quarts de Chaume - $49.90 "With an auburn color and dark notes of maple, date and sugared walnut, this will be a different paradigm for most. Yet manages to stay fresh and focused, with a mouth watering finish that lets the green tea and ginger notes linger. A wild wine. Drink now through 2017. 25 cases made." |
| Kracher 2005 No. 1 Welschriesling TBA - $55.90 "Medium golden yellow. Subtle nose displays honey, apricot jam, crushed strawberries and a hint of white asparagus. Powerful but well-balanced, with a finely chiseled acid structure framing the opulent flavors of apple sauce, peach and acacia honey; fascinating vegetal and tobacco nuances add to the flavor interest of this very harmonious sweet wine. Finishes with a persistent pear flavor. Drink 2010 to 2025." |
| Château Coutet 2004 Barsac - $89.90 "Medium yellow. Rather exotic aromas of fresh apricot, tangerine and flower blossom. A juicy, clean midweight with an enticing sugar/acid balance and fresh flavors of spicy ripe peach and honey. More vibrant in the mouth and on the aftertaste than the nose suggests. Still, in a rather easygoing style, finishing with good but not outstanding length. 88 points" - Stephen Tanzer, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Dec 07 |
