About Austrian Wines

Small is good, and when small is done well, then that’s when you have my attention. As far as wine growing countries go, Austria is about as small as they come. With over 8,500 independent wine growers its strength is its smallness. Many of its growers are sustainable farms, organic and biodynamic. Austrian wines have breed, identity and a unique point of difference. Can you say Gruner Veltliner and killer Rieslings?

John's first exposure to Austrian wines was in Verona during Vin Italy through the late, legendary and great friend Alois Kracher. He consistently invited John to Austria, when John did go Kracher personally introduced him to some of the country's greatest estates: Soloman, Prager, Rudi Pichler, Hirsch, Loimer, Stadt Krems just to name a few.

The hills of the Wachau with the Danube below are strikingly beautiful and should be a must on anyone's bucket list. Our clients have slowly embraced the Austrian wines, with their clean mineral and fresh and vibrant personality.
